Guess what's going around?

The stomach flu, oh yeah it's that time of year again and it's been going around the dd's school. So on Wednesday the dh brought the kid into my work to get the Flumist nasal vaccine in hopes of her avoiding catching it. We did the Flumist thing last November and while none of us got the flu I did have that aneurysm 4 days later so I am wimping out this year and just not getting it. The dh was going to get his free at work, he was supposed to start his 4 days on shift on Thursday.

Bright (3 am, ok not so bright) and early Thursday morning, not 10 hours after the kid got her flu vaccine, the dh leaves to drive to his carpool meet up point (remember it's 84 miles to his work). He's not feeling too well but doesn't think much of it. He gets in the car of the next carpool guy and they get a few blocks and he realizes that, yup, it's not so good, turn around go back to his car so he can go home. He manages to get home but not with out having to stop a few times and puke. Gotta love the good old stomach flu. Give me the 5000 degree ache temperature flu any day. The body exploding one is by far the absolute worst.

So I'm, of course, still asleep when his car rolls back in at 4 am. He comes upstairs to crawl back into bed and is looking a bit green. Poor man only gets to lay down in like 5-10 minutes stints before having to go expel stomach contents over and over. Do ya'll remember this flu? Yeah well it's coming back at us this year. I hope they got the vaccine right this year, they were wrong the past 2 years. I really don't want the kid getting it and it takes 1-2 weeks after the vaccine is administered for it to work. The good news? It only really lasted 24 hours, he was feeling better by this morning, thank God. Sick hubby's are the worst. He was actually whining while he was puking, how do they do that? It's like a y chromosome talent. When I get sick all I can do is be sick, vocalization is nigh impossible. And let me tell ya, I've had this type flu enough times to know. I swear I was sick with it every 3 months in high school. Yuk, by far the most dreaded. We've cleansed and re-cleansed everything in the house with Clorox wipes, here's hoping that me and the kid don't get it. We shall see..

A good reminder that the flu season is once again upon us. I got a flu shot about 6 weeks ago, so did hubby.

Yeah well like I said, I am paranoid and won't get it again. The hubby, well he's supposed to have gotten a bunch of shots at work that he hasn't gotten, since March! he works with convicts every day, he should have his hepatits vaccines, and tenus re-done. I remind him maybe every two weeks or so. It's what, November now? And he still isn't vaccinated. Too late now for the flu shot. You'd think he'd learn but I doubt it.

ugg girl I hope he is 100% soon and that it does not spread to you and Evie! I can deal with a lot of stuff but not so good with vomit, just hearing it is enough to send me to the nearest toilet!

Hehe Kim you're one of those! Yeah my hubby is one of those too, as is his brother. For some reason they are both hypersensitive to that particular bodily reflex. It doesn't take much, dh has been known to give himself a gag reflex when brushing his teeth normally. He can't even take vitamins because of it, ibuprofin just barely and Nyquil no way.

I think RJ is gonna be like B, he can barely take meds and forget having to swallow. Thank god for melting pills :) It is so bad for him he would rather deal with the headache than take an asprin.
